EAA is a growing and diverse organization of members with a wide range of aviation interests and backgrounds. EAA was founded in 1953 by a group of individuals in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, who were interested in building their own airplanes. Through the decades, the organization expanded its mission to include antiques, classics, Warbirds, aerobatic aircraft, ultralights, helicopters, and contemporary manufactured aircraft. EAA is the only association that offers the fun and camaraderie of sharing your passion for participating in the flying, building, and restoring of recreational aircraft with the most passionate community of aviation enthusiasts.
Enjoying aviation at the local level is made possible by nearly 1,000 Chapters located across the United States and around the world. Chapters bring together people with varying interests in Vintage, Warbirds, Ultralight, Aerobatic and Recreational aviation. These grassroots Chapters began in 1953 in Riverside, California and continue to grow each year with more people enjoying the Flying, Friendship, Food and FUN that Chapters provide. Our local Chapter 289 was formed in 1967, two of the charter members are still actively involved in our functions. Members built our chapter building in 2001 using their own labor and pledging donations and naming it in memory of Marvin Randall a chapter member who was a builder and pilot. The dedication of our members embodies the very spirit and passion of EAA helping to fulfill its place in the general aviation community.
Whether you fly, build, restore or simply enjoy airplanes and aviation, you are welcome to attend our events and join our chapter. We are a group of aviation enthusiasts, aircraft builders, and pilots who get together with like minded people to share ideas, exchange information, encourage safety, serve the local aviation community and have a lot of fun doing so. Please come to our next meeting or event as our guest.
